Data Innovation
Program Implementation & Community Action
For Surgical, Anesthesia & Obstetric Care in India

We believe safe surgery should be within everyone’s reach.
The 2-day meeting conducted at December 14 and 15, 2024, at Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC) in New Delhi, India was co-hosted by NIHR Global Surgery Hub - India, Association for Socially Applicable Research (ASAR), Department of Surgery and Department of Anesthesia, MAMC Delhi, and Duke GEMINI Research Center and was sponsored by Duke Global Health Institute. The meeting resulted in an organized community of interest-holders for sustained collaborative action on priority areas identified during the meeting.

Why India must prioritize surgical care now?
Despite saving millions of lives, surgery remains one of the most neglected areas in India's public health system. As treateable conditions cause preventable deaths, this article exposes why surgical care must become a national priority before it's too late.

DATA INNOVATION

Turning numbers into knowledge builds the foundation for stronger and fairer health systems. Dynamic data observatories transform raw information into real-world action.
PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION

Effective programs thrive when resources, training, and political will align. Implementation research bridges the gap between policy promises and patient outcomes.
COMMUNITY ACTION

Communities become powerful change makers when trust and awareness lead the way. Grassroots voices drive solutions that no top-down strategy can achieve alone.
